Electric Car Charging Points at the Coplow Centre.

The Coplow Centre Committee are delighted to announce that we have installed two 22KwH EV Fast charging points in the car park (far left as you come in).

Thanks are due in no small part to the financial support received from both the Community Post Office and the Parish Council.

Whilst the facility is available to all public generally (utilising the “Pod-point” app), it will be free of charge to all residents within the parish of Billesdon between 08.00 and 18.00 hours, as we will be using the electricity generated by the Centre’s solar panels . To take advantage of this offer you will need, prior to usage, to send your name, e mail and residential address to: -

Enquiries@thecoplowcentre.com

This will mean that we can control usage of the facility, ensuring that non-residents pay a commercial rate.

Court Access - Updated

Following the recent relaxing of certain areas of the lockdown we are able to make some changes to the court guidance.

The relevant guidance says “can use outdoor sports courts or facilities, such as a tennis or basketball court, or golf course – with members of your household, or one other person while staying two metres apart”. Outdoor sport facilities, including tennis and basketball courts, golf courses and bowling greens, are permitted to open.” This has now been extended in respect of tennis only .

Both singles play and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can now play doubles.

www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/news/2020/lta-guidance-for-tennis-players---covid-19.pdf

The following key points should be noted;

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds entering and after leaving the court.
Use the hand sanitiser located inside the court after touching any gates, nets, or other equipment
Players do not now need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however, if you choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure you do not touch your face during play, and you should clean your hands before play and immediately after finishing
Players should still avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other courts where possible - use your racquet/foot to return them

Please note this new guidance does not permit more than 2 people from different households to use the court for any purpose other than tennis.

Football, basketball, netball are still limited to a maximum of 2 persons if from different households

On a general point we are noticing that some users are not using the hand washing facilities provided on the side of the main building before entering and after leaving the court, this IS NOT OPTIONAL.

In order to protect other users we won’t hesitate to withdraw access to those who don’t comply with this request.

Please help us to keep all of you safe.

To All Users of the Outside Court
With immediate effect we are changing the guidance that governs access.
The following guidance must be followed;
Maximum of 4 persons on the court at any time
All persons on the court must be from the same family household
Gaining access by climbing the fence is expressly forbidden and persons doing so may be permanently excluded from The Coplow Centre.

If this guidance is followed it may enable us to keep the facility open for longer.

To those of you who are climbing the fence to gain access and otherwise not adhering to the court use requirements, we know who you are, please don’t spoil it for others.

Many Thanks for your co-operation.

To all users of the Centre

Please note that, following the Prime Minister’s press conference earlier yesterday, in which he talked about avoiding “pubs, clubs and other social venues and "non-essential" travel and contact with others to fight coronavirus”, The Coplow Centre will be closed with effect from midday on Tuesday, 17th March 2020, and until further notice.

We realise the inconvenience this will cause you but am sure you will understand our decision. Can you please communicate this to those who use your classes.

The outside sports court will remain open to “non-organised team” events only. The Prime Minister indicated that people “may leave the house for exercise and, in that case, at a safe distance from others" so, at the discretion of any users, we will leave access open for groups of no more than 4 please.

In respect of March classes which have already been invoiced, please deduct days not used and pay the balance in the usual way. Those who have paid deposits for parties etc will have them returned.

Please keep yourself safe and we will be monitoring the situation with a view to opening our facility as soon as is wise and practicable.
